Experienced running coaching for real humans

No faff, no jargon, just real guidance, structure and planning that helps real people with jobs and kids and stuff get better at running.

Do you need a running coach?

This is a really good question with a simple answer: no. You don't need a running coach. But if you meet any or all of the criteria below, then it's a good bet that you'd benefit from a running coach, like me.

You might benefit from a coach if:

  • You're new to running and finding it hard. You don't know how much to run, what you're capable of, or even what you should be doing.

  • You know you want to get into running, but finding the motivation, time or brain power to do it, is proving difficult for you.

  • You run already and you're a bit lost. Maybe you want to get faster, or you want to do a new challenge like "run 5k without stopping" or even "do a marathon".

  • You hate running but for some reason, you kind of want to do more of it.

A personal, human approach to run coaching

Focus on the person, not the numbers.

You're not your Strava stats. You're a person with a job and maybe kids. You have stresses outside running and these impact running. Your coach shouldn't ignore these factors and my approach is to take all of this into account to ensure you get the most out of this.

Coaching is more than weekly training plans.

I don't like to just send you a training plan and send you on your way. I think it's essential to have an open. If you're having a bad week at work, maybe we adjust your plan.

Help with the bits that aren't running.

Getting good at running or even getting started, involves so much more than just running. It's building your confidence, avoiding common issues and navigating running alongside daily life.

A trusted and friendly approach.

I don't think a coach can be a good coach unless they understand you as a person. What stresses you out, what motivates you and what's important to you. To do this, I believe in a good relationship where you can trust me and we can be open is key.

How does run coaching work?

Initial consultation and chat

The key first step is us talking through you. Your running history, your goals and dreams, current routine, how running fits into your life. All that stuff. This is also a key opportunity for you to see if you'd even like to work with me. You being convinved by me is just as important to a successful coaching relationship.

Planning and structure review

I suggest a starting point for how to structure your training and set out some key training principles. These training principles will be the small guiding steps we'll take to ensure you continue to progress and enjoy running.

Frequent check-ins and reviews

As you work through your training plans, we catch up regularly. Either over the phone or in person where I accompany you for a training session. This helps us keep on top of how you're doing and stay on top of any potential issues.

Long term progress and planning

Over time, we build up a positive coaching relationship and help you go from accomplishment to accomplishment.

Coaching Prices

£40 per month which includes:

  • Any time advice, tips or guidance. Whatsapp email or over the phone

How much does run coaching cost?

Run coaching is a niche service. Most runners don't need coaching. But for the ones that do, I feel like this cost is more than fair and offers a great way for new runners to get coached.

Coaching is costed monthly becuase this gives an easy way for customers to get easy monthly plans, regardless of how much they continue to pay.

Common running / coaching question

Can I bring a friend to 1-1 coaching?

Yes, absolutely. This will not cost extra and your friend can join as many sessions as wanted. Your friend won't receive weekly plans or not be entitled to coaching, but they're welcome to join the 1-1 sessions as support.

Do I need anything specific for coaching?

No, all you need is an open mind. Running is hard, and it's hardest when you're new, we can't change that. But we can work together to guide you through the really hard bits.

Can you coach for specific events? (5ks, 10ks, Half marathons etc)

Of course. All coaching will align with whatever goals you have in mind. I've helped lots of beginners run everything from their first 1k to their first marathon.

Do I need to be a fast to be coached?

Absolutely not. There is no speed requirement for anything we will work together on. All plans are tailored to where you are now and where you want to be.
